Farmstead cheeses

A Farmstead cheese or “Fromage fermier” is made by producer-cheesemakers using traditional techniques and only milk from their own operation. The principle: One farm, one herd, one cheese. The use of the term “farmstead” to describe a cheese is now protected in Quebec by the Act respecting reserved designations and added-value claims.
